The Recording Academy (TRA) is continuing to strengthen its resources in Washington, D.C. in its fight for music creators. Dee Snider’s hit single. “We’re Not Gonna Take It” is now the official anthem for the Fair Play Fair Pay Act. The Act is a bipartisan bill that will reform music licensing for sound recordings in a comprehensive way that will benefit music creators.
According to TRA, today’s copyright laws are out of date and unfair to music creators. Big radio corporations make billions of dollars from music but pay nothing to artists and producers. Other provisions of copyright law force songwriters and performers to accept below market pay for their music.
“[…] Knowing that this movement is happening and trying to correct the wrongs of the past and help today’s artists and future artists to get some sort of remuneration, some financial compensation for the music that’s keeping these radio stations alive, ” said Snider in April during the Grammys on the Hill event.
Dee Snider performed the song in Washington the day after GRAMMYs on the Hill and the following video was created to go along with TRA’s advocacy campaign.
