Tonight, July 9 will be the final performances for Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., and Phillipa Soo in the Broadway production of Miranda’s Tony-winning musical Hamilton.
Javier Muñoz, who has served as the standby for Alexander Hamilton takes over for Miranda on July 11. In addition, Lexi Lawson (In the Heights national tour) will replace Soo as Eliza Hamilton, Michael Luwoye (Invisible Thread) will step into Muñoz’s role as Hamilton alternate, and two-time Tony Award nominee Brandon Victor Dixon (Shuffle Along) will replace Odom in mid-August.
Lin-Manuel Miranda won the 2016 Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Score for Hamilton. Lamar Odom earned the award for Best Actor in a Musical for playing Aaron Burr. Hamilton was nominated for a record 16 Tony Awards and won 11, including Best Musical.
The national touring version of Hamilton will be a part of The Kennedy Center’s 2017-2018 season, which begins a year from this September, center officials announced in May.
